Andrei's notation for absolute beginners

I assume here you're fair at sudoku but new at Andrei's notation. So you'll see below reasonings that you know well, explicitly detailed only in order to get you acquainted with the notation.

We will train on 09/14's tough puzzle (why not?).

[Maple Plot] [Maple Plot]

1) We have here : a5=6, b1=3, g6=8, e9=4, i5=1 and so forth. Keep sure that you can easily read such stuff (without the reference grid aside) before going on.

2) Let's write our first move. Look at possible values in cell b5 : 1, 5 and 6 are impossible because e5=5, i5=1 and a5=6 in b5's row : R5 ; 3,8,9 are impossible because b1=3,b2=8,b7=9 in b5's column : Cb ; 4,7 are impossible because c4=7,c6=4 in b5's block : Bb5. Hence the only possibility for b5 is 2, and all this will be noted :

b5=2%cell .

3) Second example : where can 8 be in column Ch ? h3, h8, h9 are already filled. 8 can't be in h2 because b2=8 in same row R2. 8 can't be in h4, h5 or h6, because g6=8 in same block Bh5. 8 can't be in h7 because d7=8 in same row R7. So h1 is the only possibility for 8 in Ch, and all this will be noted :

h1=8%col

4) Other examples from the position obtained

a) Where can 8 be in Block Be2? e1 and f3 are already filled. 8 can't be in d1, d2 or d3 because d7=8 in same column Cd. 8 can't be in e2 or f2 because b2=2 in same row R2. 8 can't be in f1 because h1=8 in same row R1. Guess what we'll say ?

e3=8%block

b) check that we can as well argue that e3=8%row, since a3,b3,c3 are forbidden by b2=8 (same block), d3 is forbidden by d7=8 (same column) and g3,i3 are forbidden by h1=8 (same block).

c) check that you can easily get now that h5=4%cell and h2=9%col . If so, please go back to sandbox. Otherwise, I badly lack imagination to help you out : try more hard? or you may write me at brunogreconospam@free.fr (remove "nospam" before using) and tell me exactly what you don't understand.
